Commodores Letter
October 2008
Hello Everyone,
It’s hard to believe it’s the middle of October already. With the crisp
mornings we all know what is around the corner. The colors of the trees are
especially beautiful this year, lets all enjoy it as long as we can. The pumpkins are starting to appear on
the porches along with the boats out back by the garages. Chucks boat usually
gets it started in our parking lot every year and slowly we all follow.
The Dock Committee has been working trying to tie up the last few loose
ends but sadly they will not have anything to report for October. We all know
that this is something that’s going to take time and we need to have a plan
that’s perfect before we present it to the Waterfront Advisory Committee. That
Committee is a nice bunch of gentlemen that love the pond as much as we do so
we need to have a plan that shines.
We still have a couple of Social Events, there's a pot luck without hot
dogs and hamburgers on Saturday October 18th at 6 o’clock and don’t
forget the Fall Dinner Dance at the Village Inn in the Grand Ballroom, cocktails
at 6 and dinner at 7:30. Amalfi`s gave us so much great food last time and were
very accommodating. The Social Committee works very hard every year on this
event and you need to come and support your Club and show the Social Committee
your support, bring some friends to this one. The Club closing is November 1st
at 8 o’clock, we always need a hand at the closing so come by and help.
Just a reminder to the folks that will be using the parking lot for
boat storage. Power washing the bottom is not permitted by boat owners. Power
washing by individual members of the PJYC was suspended as of last year.
Washing the hull and deck above the water line will only be allowed by hand
using clean water. All cleaning compounds used for washing boats must be
phosphate free and biodegradable and amounts used should be kept to a minimum.
Cleaning of the hull below the water line with detergents or by any other means
that will remove bottom paint or paint chips or residue is not allowed.
Time to put the anchor light on and head down to the galley.
